Meet the Team Behind Two Nerdy Cats

At Two Nerdy Cats, we believe that every cute idea, nerdy detail, and little moment that makes you say “awww” comes from the amazing humans behind the scenes. That’s why we decided to interview each other: to get to know one another in new ways - and to let the world get to know the people who bring this universe of science, art, cats, and heart to life.

Below, we'll dive into a Question and Answer session with Natalia. Join us in this interview series as we open the door to our creative studio and reveal the minds (and the cat-loving souls) behind every design.

Meet Our Designer, Natalia

At Two Nerdy Cats, every design is born inside a very particular universe: tender, nerdy, and full of tiny visual details and characters that seem to come to life. Behind this magic is the designer who brings it all together - someone who collaborates closely with the other team members to transform every idea into a great design. We all have ideas and visions when it comes to what to draw for the Two Nerdy Cats world, but only she can bring those ideas to life.

Today, we invite you to meet the person who turns that universe into visible art: the designer who gives shape, expression, color, and personality to the characters and scenes that make Two Nerdy Cats such a warm and unique brand. Through teamwork, a constant learning process, past experiences, and a wide range of skill sets, her work becomes expressive and pixel-perfect.

She brings her sensitivity, style, and cozy touch so that every illustration speaks for itself and connects with the community. Always curious and willing to ask questions, she transforms ideas into emotions - and emotions into designs that nerds like us love to wear and collect. Her portfolio continues to grow with pieces shaped by constructive exploration, her experience working on other projects, and the inspiration she draws from many designers.

Featured Question and Answer

How would you describe your personal artistic style?

Simple yet saturated - not exactly abstract, but I prefer to draw things fluidly, not necessarily a specific, defined object.

The Full Interview

Q: What part of your personality is reflected the most in Two Nerdy Cats?

A: I think the cozy part: being at home reading a book, drinking coffee or listening to music.

Q: How would you describe the vibe of the Two Nerdy Cats community?

A: Warm and fun!

Q: What small ritual do you have before you sit down to work?

A: Before I start designing or drawing, I have to put on some music - either one of my many playlists or one of my current favorite albums. Music helps me relax and get inspired. Oh, and I can't forget a cup of tea or coffee.

Q: What inspires you about the process of the other members of the team?

A: All of the planning, order, and perseverance! They do a great job at planning new initiatives or designs and working through hurdles that come up.

Q: What has been one of the most memorable moments in the project?

A: The beginning - the exact moment I designed the logo. I remember spending several afternoons sitting on the carpet, creating our fonts by hand, next to my pet rats (don't worry - they're domesticated and super sweet and friendly, like hamsters!). It was fun because I only needed paper, a pencil and an eraser - and my rats were biting everything within reach (goodbye to the eraser!).

Q: What is the nicest thing someone has said about your work?

A: A heart - I love when someone reacts with a heart emoji!

Q: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve managed to overcome?

A: Drawing characters and poses that require perspective. For example, the most difficult drawing so far was that of “Cece Dom Game Over”. It was a challenge to draw Dom in this position, since he was lying down with his head in the background and his feet close to the “camera”. I'd never drawn Dom like that before!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

A: Read and listen to music.

Q: What is your favorite time of year?

A: December 24th has become my favorite day since my family and I get together to play board games, exchange gifts, and eat and drink until late at night.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: Ballad of Sword and Wine: Qiang Jin Jiu by Tang Jiu Qing.

Q: What is your favorite movie, TV series or anime?

A: It's hard to pick a favorite anime, but I'll have to say Saikano, since it's the one that made me cry the most. I'm not a big movie fan - but around Christmas time, I always get the urge to watch Mouse Hunt; I never get tired of seeing that little mouse in trouble.

Q: What's your nerdiest hobby?

A: Besides reading - sculpting or creating dolls from the world of my drawings!

Q: What hobby or interest do you have that might surprise people?

A: I love to read manga, manhua, and manhwa.

Q: What is a comfort food for you?

A: Tofu Katsu Curry!

Q: Do you collect anything? If so, what?

A: Chinese novels, insects, and anything related to rats and mice! I've always found them fascinating and adorable.

Q: What feelings do you try to evoke when you design?

A: When people see the design, I love for them to feel a sense of cuteness, as if to say "awww how cute!".

Q: What do you dream of creating for Two Nerdy Cats that doesn’t exist yet?

A: Short video animations from the Two Nerdy Cats world.

Q: Is there any design that has been especially meaningful to you?

A: Yes - "Cece Lounging", because that's when the silliest but cutest characters were introduced: Mr. Fish, Mr. Duck, and my favorite, Mr. Mouse.

Q: How would you describe your personal artistic style?

A: Simple yet saturated - not exactly abstract, but I prefer to draw things fluidly, not necessarily a specific, defined object.

Q: How does it feel to see someone wearing or using something you designed?

A: Joy - from both the design itself and the message behind it.

Q: What tools do you use for your designs?

A: XP-Pen, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop! I'm also starting to use Affinity.

Q: What is your favorite software to use for graphic design?

A: Illustrator is my favorite.
